EXPERIENCED HANDLERS only. A super nice dog for the right handler, Harro was returned to his breeder after his pet home didn't understand his drives and motivation. Unfortunately, his breeder wasn't in a position to house a dog of his caliber so he ended up with me. I own his sire and I imported his dam and raised her.
Harro would be make a phenomenal single or dual purpose dog for the skilled handler/trainer. The only thing higher than his drive is his possession, and that can either be used to your benefit or detriment- it's up to you. He has tenacity typical of his sire line, but uncommon in German Shepherds in general. This is not a dog that is going to be dominated or bullied into submission. He would likely excel with a competent female handler but could work fine for a male who was willing to use finesse vs force.
He will find what he is looking for no matter how long it takes him. He doesn't care if there is water in the way, a road, etc. The tenacity he shows in his possessiveness also pertains to his desire to hunt. This dog does not know the meaning of quit.
THIS IS A STABLE DOG- before you get the wrong idea --- he's just a whole lot of dog. Yes, several adults couldn't handle him, but my 12yr old son raised with these bloodlines handles him fine - he's not a monster.
Harro has clean habits , is very clear, not prone to redirecting, neutral in public to both animals and people, travels well and just in general is a pleasure to have around if you've got experience and sense. If you're lacking in either department, you're not going to have a good time.
No information will be withheld in hopes of finding him the best home. He is only available because I own his littermate, his sire and several half siblings and I really don't need all of them. I have kept this dog long enough and worked with him enough to know the reason he was given up is 100% a human failure- this is a working dog that should be out working.
Could also do: personal protection, SAR, IGP, PSA, private security, etc.
He can be X-rayed prior to placement.
