Training Details |
Ferio is eager to continue his career as a dual purpose police dog. He recently turned 5 years old and has many working years left in him. His handler was afforded the opportunity to retire him because he was leaving the agency’s K-9 Unit to further his career. His handler’s previous dog is not approving of his retirement making the living arrangement difficult.
Ferio is up to date and current on his certifications and vaccinations. He is certified in PD1 and narcotics detection through the USPCA. His certifications are valid until the end of next year. He is fully trained in patrol work which includes; Tracking, area search, building search, evidence recovery, agility, criminal apprehension and handler protection. He is passive to gun fire and his obedience is advanced. He can work off lead very well. Ferio is trained to detect cocaine, crack, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and ecstasy. His alert is passive.
He is social with people and not dog aggressive. He has a great on/off switch. He is used to living indoors as well as in an outdoor kennel. He is not destructive and bonds quickly. His protection is real. His bites are full and he pushes in to counter rather then pull. Ferio is environmentally sound and confident in any situation.
He has had great success on the street and was retired too early. He is healthy and has not sustained any serious injuries. This dog can be put in a squad tomorrow without skipping a beat.
