Training Details

Practical obedience (manners, German and English basic commands, doesn't jump on people, sits for his food), started over obstacles (climbs ladders, chain & swinging bridges, slides, etc.), housebroken, crate-trained, perfect in vehicle, on-lead obedience good enough for a toddler to handle. I do have video of him w/my toddler handling him for interested parties. I have short video of him as a 6mo. old starting on obstacles.

Owner Comments

Absolutely GORGEOUS male, traffic-stopper, just turned 1yr old at the end of July. Already large, strong, and imposing; will be absolutely stunning as an adult. Very nice structure, beautiful head, straight front, tight, round, arched feet, not cow-hocked, not over-angulated, may mature to be just a hair over-sized, but should be just barely within the standard. Heavy boned, substantial, but not overly coarse. Perfect bite. Should rate SG at the very least, if not V. Comes from 2 imported, KKL1, V rated parents.

Now the important stuff...This dog has wonderful temperament. He has the mindset of a much more mature dog, nothing upsets or fazes him. He takes everything in stride. He is NOT dog aggressive, but he is not a pushover and can be a little dominant with other dogs. He would be happy as an only dog or with an easygoing female partner in crime. He doesn't bother cats too much, either. He is not a cat killer- he is just a puppy with prey drive and will chase them a bit if they run. I have 2 house cats and he's pretty neutral toward them. He has a presence about him that other dogs generally respect and do not challenge, but he will defend himself strongly if challenged or dominated.

He is totally trustworthy with children and seems to enjoy their company. He is much easier for a child to handle than a new male handler he doesn't respect. He tailors his behavior according to his handler and the environment and shows excellent judgment. He rides perfectly in the vehicle, un-crated. He is not a nuisance barker, however, he is very territorial and will definitely alert aggressively to any property encroachments. He is not an apartment dog. Acreage or a good-sized fenced yard recommended.

This is not a breeder's kennel dog that has been ignored and untouched his entire life. He is housebroken, crate-trained, walks very nicely on lead, even for children, knows basic commands in both English and German, has been started on obstacles, is good on different surfaces, shows no noise sensitivities, is great in the car, and can settle nicely in the house. He is moderately high energy, high drive, but he is not hectic or out of control. He is calm, very confident and sure of himself, and in general a clear-headed, stable dog you can trust. The more time you spend with him, the quieter and calmer he is. He's the perfect dog for a 24/7 companion/protection dog.

He's at the perfect age to start more formal training in whatever direction you choose. My personal opinion is that his best use is as a family protection dog due to his exceptionally gentle and intuitive nature toward children (exceptional for a young male- he acts more like an older female toward kids, very maternal), and the fact that he has shown very natural protective tendencies since he was just a few months old. He may have potential for some type alert/assistance dog for a child, as he has a littermate who has naturally begun alerting to low blood sugar reliably. He likes a ball but is not overly obsessed or annoying about it, nor would he dare grab at something in a child's hands. His basic manners are good; he sits for his food and he doesn't jump on people. He is also not food aggressive, though he has VERY high food drive.

No health issues whatsoever. No allergies, no sensitive stomach, etc. I will offer a health guarantee as if he were an 8 wk old pup if necessary. Hips and elbows will be xrayed for prelims shortly, or at least upon deposit, which will be refunded if xrays are not satisfactory to buyer.

The reason for sale is personal in nature and has absolutely nothing to do with the dog. I'm having a stroke of bad luck. I'm happy to answer any questions over the phone. He's not dirt cheap but I'm willing to work with approved homes, especially local ones with whom I could share breeding rights.

This is THE perfect dog if you're looking for a very strong deterrent/watch dog/family protection dog you don't have to worry about. Train him for a higher level of protection or leave him as-is. I would not be at all surprised if he would already bite an intruder on his own, though he has NOT HAD FORMAL PROTECTION TRAINING so I will not guarantee him as such, only that he has the potential.

Many people will lie and sell what they call a "protection dog" who WILL NOT bite for real because they've never been trained to do so! Be careful of anyone who tells you a young dog Dylan's age (1yr) is fully trained- they are LYING, 99% of the time and you don't want to find out the hard way that the dog won't really protect. This dog is very serious for his age, very intense, very clear-headed, but he is not fully trained yet and will need continued training should you require a man stopper. He is more than most people will ever need as-is, however.

Special pricing available to homes within driving distance of my home and those willing to give me breeding rights.
