Training Details |
"Pekoe" is a medium-large, solid black German Shepherd male with protection training to the SchH3 level. He is a dog with a strong protective instinct, and yet has super obedience and control, having been raised since eight weeks of age by a Schutzhund trainer/competitor with ten+ years of experience. Pekoe is NOT dominant with other dogs, and he has been raised up with a family with a small child from his little person's birth (the child is now 5 years old). Pekoe is aloof with strangers, but is completely under control. He has been known to growl warningly at strange men he thinks looks suspicious, though he has never been forced to take action. A growl from this serious looking black German Shepherd has been good enough to forestall any possible
issues. The owner states that Pekoe has only done this with a few strange men, and not any women.
As a competition dog, Pekoe is wonderful in tracking and obedience. In the protection phase in Schutzhund, he lacks the showing of power specifically in the barking and guarding elements that the owner would like to have in a dog to compete at the higher levels of Schutzhund sport
competitions. The dog has no handler aggression.

Pekoe loves to retrieve and could play or run with you all day. It would be easy to teach Pekoe to skijor and carry a backpack for hiking, two activities he would love to learn from you.
The owner states that he believes that Pekoe would do best at AKC Obedience, or AKC Tracking pursuits, or as an active and super under control family protective companion dog. Any persons
seeking to have Pekoe as a protection type dog is encouraged to talk to the owner in greater depth.
Pekoe would also make a good agility dog with his super athleticism. He has been in the house, though not strictly a house dog, and is crate trained. He is not familiar with cats, and we cannot guarantee his good behavior with cats, though it is possible he could become accustomed to
them. Pekoes pack drive is very strong, and therefore he is willing and even eager to please his family.
He comes with full registration, his USCA scorebook, and is up to date
on shots and wormings. He is already microchipped and tattooed.
